91.3 WHIL Presents Mobile Matters every Saturday at 2pm with Host Kathy Richardson

91.3 WHIL's
Green Team Initiative
Wins Award

Earth Day Mobile Bay has awarded 91.3 WHIL, the Gulf Coast's non-commercial public radio station, the Being Green Award for service to environmental causes for its year-long Green Team initiative.

The station has been airing environmental information and tips in vignettes played multiple times daily since January of this year.

Sponsors of the program included Gulf Coast Solar, Wild Birds Unlimited, The Architects Group and High Cotton Consignments. The complete list of Green Team tips can be found on the station's website.

"We're very happy to give this award to WHIL", said Gary Gover, President and Chairman of Earth Day Mobile Bay. "We feel they've done an excellent job making the community highly aware of what can be done to make our lives and the Gulf Coast much better environmentally".

Mario Mazza, 91.3 WHIL's General Manager said, "We're truly honored by this. Recognition by such an important organization is a meaningful validation of our work. Our partners in this project were ecstatic about it too."

Earth Day Mobile Bay's celebration of Earth Day is inspired by the worldwide Earth Day Network which promotes environmental citizenship and steers environmental awareness around the world. The twenty first annual Earth Day Mobile Bay will be on April 24, 2010.

The free event at Fairhope Pier Park from 10am – 7pm will include environmental displays and exhibits, educational activities for children and adults, plus art and live music. Bring computers, old TV's, other electronics, used cooking oil and other aluminum, plastic and cardboard items for recycling.

Earth Day Mobile Bay seeks to grow the environmental movement on the Gulf Coast and sees it as an effective vehicle for promoting a healthy, sustainable planet. More information is available at www.earthdaymobilebay.org.
